JOIN CITY VOICES CARDIFF Whether you already sing, are returning after a break or are simply wondering whether a choir might be for you, we would love you to come and experience City Voices Cardiff. City Voices is a large mixed choir singing in six voice sections: Soprano 1, Soprano 2, Alto 1, Alto 2, Tenor and Bass. There are no auditions, and you do not need to know your voice part before coming. We welcome singers in every section and are particularly keen to hear from tenors and basses. WHAT WE SING Our repertoire ranges from stage and screen to pop and rock, alongside more ambitious choral works. Our rehearsals are relaxed and friendly, but purposeful. We work hard, support one another and take pride in producing memorable performances together. We normally present two principal concerts each year - one in the summer and one in December - as well as occasional additional concerts, collaborations and other musical events. Our concerts are accompanied by professional musicians, and the choir normally performs without sheet music. COME AND TRY CITY VOICES You can attend up to three free trial rehearsals within a five-week period before deciding whether to join. When you arrive, someone will be there to welcome you, help you find the voice part that suits you and introduce you to singers in your section. You will sit alongside experienced members, and music will be provided for you. Many people come to their first rehearsal on their own, so please do not let that put you off. WHAT DOES MEMBERSHIP INVOLVE? You do not need to be a fluent sight-reader. Members receive music and voice-part learning materials, and we work through the repertoire during rehearsals. City Voices is a performance choir, so regular attendance and some home learning are important. Our learning materials allow you to practise your own voice part between rehearsals and prepare confidently for performances. Being part of City Voices also means contributing to the wider life of the choir. Members help with practical tasks at rehearsals, support the promotion of our concerts and play their part in creating a friendly and collegiate atmosphere. City Voices is committed to providing a safe, caring and inclusive environment founded on respect and friendship. We ask everyone to treat others with dignity and respect, show proper care for the thoughts and feelings of others, and help us maintain a welcoming environment for all. REHEARSALS
Tuesday evenings, 7.30pm–10pm We rehearse every Tuesday except during August. MEMBERSHIP Membership costs £22 per month from January 2027, paid by standing order throughout the year. This is an annual membership of £264, divided into twelve equal monthly payments; it is not a charge for each individual rehearsal. WHEN CAN I JOIN? Our principal opportunity for new members to join is through our January Open Rehearsal. We may also be able to welcome singers in September, particularly former members wishing to return. Please contact us before attending so that we can make the appropriate arrangements. OUR NEXT OPEN REHEARSAL
Tuesday 19th January 2027 There is no audition, no preparation is required and you do not need to know your voice part. Registering does not commit you to becoming a member - it is simply an opportunity to meet us, sing with the choir and find out whether City Voices is right for you. After the Open Rehearsal, you will be invited to return on Tuesday 26th January and continue your free trial period. REGISTER FOR THE OPEN REHEARSAL
